Rev. Keith Cerk

Keith is a native of Waukegan and has served First Baptist Church since 1989 moving from youth pastor to associate pastor and was called as senior pastor in 1995. Prior to FBC, Keith worked with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Keith earned an MA in Theology and a Master of Divinity at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. Keith has led FBC to be active in the community developing programs to address the issues of gangs, poverty and housing, serves on the board of Kids Hope United and is a member of the Sierra Club.

Rev. Dave Study, Associate Pastor

Dave is originally from Indiana and has been active in ministry to seniors for the past 15 years.  He has served as Interim Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Mundelein and as Associate Pastor of Grace Chapel of Round Lake.  This latter position included a year as Acting Pastor while the Senior Pastor was serving in Kuwait. Dave served in the Marines for 4 years before transferring to the Army Reserve and retiring after 22 years of military service. Dave leads our monthly worship service at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Rev. Eileen Peterson, Associate Pastor


Eileen is a graduate of Loyola University where she earned a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies. She also holds a Master of Social Work from Jane Adams College and is a certified Spiritual Director. Eileen is the third generation member of FBC and has served in many roles. She has served as a school social worker, psychotherapist, executive director of the Family Service Agency and director of Teen Moms/Families in touch. Eileen currently provides counseling to the members of FBC and the community.

Rev. Gonazalo Palacios, Associate Pastor

Gonzalo is a native of Durango, Mexico and studied Mass Communication at Truman College. He frequently appears in radio and TV ads in the Chicagoland area and was the Spanish-language commentator for the Chicago Cubs in 1988. He founded and directed the Latin Christian music group “La Asociación Salmistas de Illinois.” He is the host of Moody Radio's Spanish language show, "Corazon Mexicano" (Radio Esperanza AM1110) and is the pastor of the Spanish group that worships at 12:30 Sundays.

 Barbara

Rev. Barbara Waller, Associate Pastor

Barbara is a graduate of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary where she earned a Master of Arts in Christian Education. Barbara is founder and president of the Learning Institute for Family Enrichment. In 1985, she developed and directed an all day summer learning program for school-aged children called the Adventures of the 3 Rs.
At FBC Barbara has led many Christian education endeavors and is currently developing a summer learning program for children.
